AMBROSE CONTINUES LEARNING CURVE AT KANSAS SPEEDWAY

KANSAS CITY, KS It’s never easy running back and forth between the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series garages, climbing in and out of different race cars. But the experience last weekend for Marcos Ambrose was another important step for his future plans with Little Debbie® snacks and JTG Daugherty Racing.

After practicing and racing in the Nationwide Series on Saturday, Ambrose drove the Little Debbie® Ford Fusion to a 36th-place finish Sunday in the Camping World RV 400 – JTG Daugherty Racing’s second career race in the Sprint Cup Series

“The cars are completely different, but running laps really helped,” Ambrose said. “We’re taking this step into the Sprint Cup Series very deliberately. Our first priority was to get the car into the race. We did that. The second priority was to finish the race. We did that, too. We also wanted to come away with a little better feel for the Car of Tomorrow. We absolutely did that. All in all, a good day.”

Ambrose was scheduled to make 12 selected Cup starts this year with Little Debbie® snacks. Eight of those races were scheduled with Wood Brothers Racing; the other four with JTG Daugherty Racing. Ambrose will embark on a full-time schedule with JTG Daugherty Racing and Little Debbie® in 2009 in the Sprint Cup Series.

“We seemed to learn something with every lap,” said crew chief Frank Kerr. “We needed to learn how the car responds to certain adjustments. Marcos already has a good feel for the Nationwide car, but that’s a completely different animal. He seems to be on the fast track to learning this new car.”

Although his cars are different, Ambrose said he’s learning how some things apply to both series.

“I’m learning what to expect when the fuel burns off and the tires wear out at each track,” he said. “The COT handles so differently, but some things seem to carry over at certain tracks. As a team, we took another important step toward the future. Right now, it’s a lot of work, but it’s all going to be worthwhile next year. I just want to thank the folks at Little Debbie® for supporting us. They make it all possible." Contributed by Chip Warren, JTG Daugherty Racing
