Macaroni Leis
1. Let each guest string together uncooked
macaroni or other uncooked tube-shaped pasta with
yarn to form necklaces.
2. To make each one unique, let the children choose from a variety
of small, colorful foam shapes, like starfish or shells, and let them
glue the shapes onto the macaroni pieces.
Coconut
Friends
1. Gather the children into small groups.
2. Give each group coconuts and let them make funny faces,
using the two dark circles to form the "eyes." Pass out paints,
puffy pens, markers, pipe cleaners, glue and yarn so the kids can add
other facial features.
2. When they're finished with their coconut friends, have an adult hammer
a large nail into the top of each coconut, remove the nail, insert a
straw into the nail hole, and let the kids drink the coconut milk
for an island treat.
Hula Lesson
1. Teach the hula and put on a show. Don't forget the grass skirts!
2. Be sure to videotape it and play it back for all to enjoy.
