Treasure Hunt
1. Buy boxes of inexpensive valentines or cut
out hearts from red construction paper.
2. Write treasure hunt instructions on the valentines,
similar to the ones found on candy conversation hearts.
For example, if you write "Be Mine . . . On Time," the
clue suggests a clock.
3. Have the kids figure out the clues in order
to search for the next hidden clue.
4. After they find 8 or 10 clues, hide a treat
in the last place for the kids to find and enjoy.
Counting Hearts
1. Fill a container with candy conversation hearts.
2. Have the kids try to guess how many hearts
are in the container.
3. The player who comes closest to the correct
number wins a prize.
4. Divide up the hearts among the kids when the
game is over.
Write
a Romantic Story
1. Have the kids sit in a circle.
2. Write the latest vocabulary or spelling words
on a board or pad of paper, or use words that are related
to romance, such as "love," sweetheart," "kiss," and
"hug."
3. Choose one player to begin the first line
of a romantic story, using one of the words on the board
in the sentence.
4. Have the next player continue the story, using
another vocabulary word, and so on, until each player
has had a turn.
5. Have the last player end the story.
6. Write down the story as you go, and make copies
for all the kids.>
