Directions:
- First, bake your round cake – we suggest vanilla or holiday confetti- according to the directions on the packaging.
- Next make your buttercream frosting – we suggest using our friend's Party Pinching recipe. Grab it here. Or, you can use store bought and add in about 1/3 cup powdered sugar to make it fluffy.
- Fill two piping bags halfway with white buttercream. Set aside. See step 7 for correct tips!
- To make the peppermint buttercream: Add a few drops of pink food coloring until you get the color you desire along with ¼ tsp peppermint extract. If you want a stronger peppermint flavor, add a few drops more. Be mindful that this extract is strong and a little goes a long way.
- Now, frost your cake with the pink peppermint buttercream.
- Add the Christmas Tree Cakes around the side of your cake. You can slice the trees in half so they are thinner if you wish.
- Pipe on the white buttercream around the top of your cake using the #4B large star piping tip, and pipe the bottom of the cake using the #21 star piping tip.
- Add sprinkles to the top of the cake and fun sprinkles like red bows to the tops of each Christmas Tree Cake. Or, you can add snowflakes or star sprinkles - whichever you choose!
- To make the truffle polar bear: Slice about ¼ of one end of each truffle. Melt some white chocolate chips and attach the flat part of each truffle together using the melted white chocolate. Then, add ears and feet for the bear using the white chocolate chips and attach with the melted white chocolate. Attach the mini brown chocolate candies for the nose with white chocolate and draw on eyes and feet using the black edible markers. You can even make a scarf and hat out of red fondant if you wish.
- Add the truffle polar bear along with three (3) Christmas Tree Cakes to the top of the cake.
- Place some peppermint puff candies on top for extra garnish.
