Go Wild with Zebra® Cakes

April 2nd, 2020

Little Debbie® Zebra Cakes have been a staple in pantries since 1967.  This classic snack is made with moist yellow cake, layered with creme, covered in white icing and then it’s decorated with delicious fudge stripes. Maybe you remember enjoying them when you were a kid, or perhaps you’re passing down the snacking tradition to your kids. This irresistible treat is filled with childhood memories and new memories to create.

Take a nostalgia break with us, grab a treat and read on to find out more about this fan favorite!

Zebra Cakes Safari Shake

Pack your bags, grab your snacks and put on a hat; we’re going on a safari with the Zebra Cakes Super Shake! Great for a jungle party or a sweet end to a wild afternoon, this shake is quick to make and is an easy way to enjoy a special treat. Click the button below for the full recipe!

Before 1991, this delicious treat was not called by the name it is known for now. Originally known as “Little Debbie Snack Cakes” is wasn’t until the early 90s that the product became the famously loved treat we all know today – Zebra Cakes! Check out our packaging from 1981.

Just a few years later, the packaging was eventually changed to an iteration we all recognize today. While updates have been made over the last few years, the packaging we see on store shelves today is still around.

What's in a name?

Ever wonder what the name of the zebra mascot on the front of the carton is? With his cool glasses, friendly smile and purple hooves, Robert is what we like to call him! Named after a zebra at the San Diego Zoo, Robert is our friendly mascot companion seen all over.
